Hi Danie, Does your system cover Biodiverse cover crop etc. ?We would like to try the organic route. Don't know if you're familliar with Avondale (South Africa). I've seen a program on TV. They've planted all sorts of "good" weeds between the vinyards that put nutrients back in to the ground. They also use ducks to do pest (bugs/snails) control. It was quite interesting. Regards

Hi all....thanks for the kind comments.

1. My vineyard is located in Southern New Mexico USA
2. I have a variety of Table Grapes. Thompson Seedless, Red Globe, Interlaken, Himrod, Reliance. I also have Merlot, Cabernet, and Seyval Blanc.
3. My trellis is a 4 wire system starting at 12 inches to hold the irrigation line and spaced evenly up to 50 inches. Rows are 10 feet wide and vines are every 7 feet for 100 Foot rows. I have close to 100 vines total in this vineyard. Total cost for this vinyard was around 5K. The design is my own design. This is part of my landscaping and is in my side yard.
4. I spray foliage nutrients only. I use a chemical call "Admire" injected through the irrigation system fo insect control. I use a tractor for weed control and hand pull anything else as I walk through as needed.
5. It is all on automatic irrigation with an injection system to inject fertilizer and or chemicals. I water twice a week 6 gallons per vine each time so they get 12 gallons a week.

Scott:
If you look to the North East toward Kansas you will notice a green hue in that direction. That would be me green with envy.

Nice job!

I just started growing Baco Noir this year. I live in Southern Ontario, Canada. On a large body of water- Georgian Bay. There is a vineyard near us, and they have success with Baco.

We just planted a couple of rows in our backyard to see how it goes, before buying more property to grow grapes. This year has been cooler than the norm. We finally have some muggy heat and they are finally growing like crazy, after a slow start. I found some grapes on one of the vines the other day. Picked them off, as I know I am not suppose to allow them to produce fruit the first year. They have reached the first wire in height!

I have started to allow weeds to grow inbetween the 2 rows, as I heard this helps with the harsh winters. Insulation. I plan on putting black pebble rock as a mulch in the spring. More attractive, since these vines are part of our view.

Now I see you have a video for sale regarding the grape growing process. I have been hesitant to purchase it, since I assumed it was dedicated to growing grapes in warmer climates. May I ask if you think it would benefit my situation here in Ontario?
