Hi Aham, I am impressed about your blogue. Just for oxygen by growing grapes I have looked. But I have now some questions:
1. Do you kow about a possibility to enrich oxygen in water?
2. Do you know about experiences by changing the milieu of the soil by supply oxygen?
3. Do you recommend the organic growth of vine when you get started?
4. Do you believe, that to supply more oxygen to the soil, that also the fungus infection could be defended?

Thanks for giving me a quick answer.

Did you ever find anything about false dormancy.
I too am growinng grapes in the caribbean (BVI) and have a bumper crop this year....but am anxious about letting the plant relax.
Simmilarly with my Syrian fig tree...it does not stop bearing. I know it needs a rest....but I do not know how to do it.
Any ideas out there??

Thanks, wrtie to <span class="mh-plaintext">drea<a href='http://mailhide.recaptcha.net/d?k=6Lc_NwMAAAAAAPS75_8mY4LBJpupUyXt_sy5wjl0&c=bc1b1cYFrJ_7ld_BfeZJneZxkLACUDAil65e63WlFJo=' onclick="window.open('http://mailhide.recaptcha.net/d?k=6Lc_NwMAAAAAAPS75_8mY4LBJpupUyXt_sy5wjl0&c=bc1b1cYFrJ_7ld_BfeZJneZxkLACUDAil65e63WlFJo=', '', 'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=500,height=300'); return false;" title="Reveal this e-mail address">...</a>@surfbvi.com</span>.

[...] To determine if your soil is too shallow for growing grapes, you need to know what the roots of the grape vine look like and how the root system develops over the years. Another very important fact to keep in mind is that a grape vine don’t like wet feet. In other words, the grape vine’s roots must develop in a well-drained soil with enough oxygen for normal nutrient uptake. I wrote an article about this a while ago, so if you are interested, head over to the following web page: The Importance Of Oxygen In The Soil When Growing Grapes [...]

Hi Francis,

Since you are in a tropical climate (am I right??), you will face some challenges like disease control, crop sizing and canopy management. Your climate is probably hot and humid, so the vines will no go dormant by themselves; you will have to "force dormancy".

Growing grapes in the tropics is much harder, but not impossible. You will have to properly manage your grape vines though.

Seems like you have a relatively mild climate; how about Concord grapes or Crimson seedless?
